AdviceOS Superannuation database provides a tool to perform Super to Super comparison for product replacement purposes.

The comparison is made based on existing superannuation funds as entered as part of the fact find by the adviser or by the client through the client portal.

In all product comparison modules, the existing platforms are coloured red and the recommended platforms are coloured blue.

Up to 6 platforms can be entered for comparison purposes in the Super to Super module.

Midwinter Fee Index-MFI

The complexity of different fee structures makes it difficult to compare platforms on a fee basis. AdviceOS calculates a single effective rate which shows the one total fee paid by your client (in percentage per annum).

Calculating one total fee percentage per annum, the Midwinter Fee Index (MFI) makes it easier to digest complex fee structures and makes decisions for the adviser and client simpler when comparing existing and recommended platforms.

Editing and adding existing platforms

To perform a super to super comparison, an existing platform needs to be present.

1.Select client

2.Click “Super to Super”

3.To edit a platform, click “Edit platform”. Load a platform from the Midwinter database or add a custom platform (tick appropriate radio button). From the edit platform button you can also choose to Delete, Rename or access platform settings to manually amend tax rates and payments for the platform

4.To add new platform(s), click “Add” and select platform

5.Enter amount invested

6.Enter any adviser fee or charges that were charged for a previous adviser under “Adviser service fee”

7.Click “ICR/MER” or “Sell spread” to enter the investment options for your client in Portfolio Builder. Enter the client’s existing funds and amounts or percentage of each investment option, click “OK”. The weighted average MER is automatically inserted

8.Add existing contributions made to each superannuation account and any concessional or non- concessional payments

Click the Fee and strategy buttons to display different alternatives on how to view fee and strategy calculations.

Editing and adding recommended platforms

1.To load a recommended platform from the Midwinter database or add a custom platform click “Edit platform” (tick appropriate radio button)

2.Enter amount invested

3.To add an additional platform, click “Add” and add additional platforms and click “Load platform” to select.  Repeat steps to add additional platforms and enter amount to invest in the Allocate funds window pop-up, ensuring you allocate 100% of the total amount between the funds

4.Enter any adviser fee or charges you wish to include for the recommended platform

5.Click “ICR/MER” or “Sell spread” to use portfolio builder. Enter the client’s recommended funds and amounts or percentage of each investment option , click “OK” and the weighted average MER is then automatically inserted

6.Add recommended contributions to be made to each superannuation account and any concessional or non- concessional payment

7.Ensure the risk profile is correct for the recommended platform

8.Click “Update projection” to view the superannuation balance projection

9.Click Projection calculations to view a detailed projection report on existing and recommended platforms

10.Click “Midwinter fee index” to view percentage per annum and final balance and click “Strategy and fee impact” to view impact

11.Press “Save” to save the analysis

** User note: Clicking “Edit Platform” where there are existing and recommended platforms will overwrite the platform highlighted.
